Troisième album de ce groupe anglais inclassable, issu du 'blues boom' de la fin des sixties, qui allait tracer la route d'un certain rock seventies, lourd et mélodique, Fire And Water constitue l'apothéose de Free et le début d'un immense succès. Grâce évidemment au hit international "All Right Now" (trois versions de ce seul titre en bonus !), mais également à la qualité générale de l'album : Free a ici trouvé sa voie, entre rock lent martelé (le morceau titre), funk lourd épatant ("Mr Big") et mélodies magnifiques ("Oh I Wept", "Remember"). Les musiciens sont excellents, en particulier Paul Kossof à la guitare et Paul Rodgers au chant. Enfin, le son du CD remasterisé (qui nous offre six bonus) de ce classique est remarquable. |
