Précédé du single "Better Way", "Both Sides Of The Gun" est le premier album de Ben Harper depuis trois ans. Il s'agit d'un double-CD : le premier disque réunit les chansons les plus rythmées et le second, les plus douces. Plus mature et responsable aujourd'hui (il a récemment épousé l'actrice Laura Dern), le chanteur-guitariste californien a produit l'album et joué la plupart des instruments sur une grande majorité de morceaux. A écouter en priorité, le poignant "Black Rain", composé quelques heures à peine après le passage de l'ouragan Katrina. Après plusieurs écoutes, "Both Sides Of The Gun", tour à tour nerveux ou sensible, apparaît comme le meilleur disque de ce fan de Marley et Dylan qu'on sent plus que jamais investi d'une mission et dont les chansons se révèlent plus humaines que jamais. Légitimement, Ben Harper considère ce huitième album comme un nouveau départ et on sait que de nombreux fans supplémentaires vont le rejoindre bien avant l'arrivée. album que j'adore,c'est du bon ben harper.sinon moi aussi j'ai vu mr harper a strasbourg le 9 nov.2006 et c'est vrai qu'il dechire en live.du trop bon son pendant 2h30 avec des musiciens au top,la classe.un melange groove funk blues rock acoustique qui detonne,avec une bonne reprise de bob "get up stand up".merci monsieur ben harper,j'ai adore. |
