Son titre de Norah Jones anglaise est plus que justifié tant sa musique douce, tendre et jazzy, est d'une beauté renversante, et sa voix sublime !Jeune Georgienne de 19 ans émigrée à Belfast, Katie Melua sort avec ce premier album un essai renversant de jazz folk évoquant effectivement Norah Jones, mais avec plus de nerf et de mordant, et avec une voix sensiblement plus sexy. Le choix des reprises (" Crawling Up A Hill ", de John Mayall, " I Think It's Going To Rain Today " classique impérissable de Randy Newman repris ici façon Dusty Springfield, " Lilac Wine ", de Jeff Buckley), en dit long sur le bon goût de la chanteuse, tandis que le groupe, principalement acoustique (et incluant de très beaux arrangements de cordes), fait des miracles... Attention, chef-d'oeuvre ! |
